The U.S Embassy in Madrid is seeking an individual for the position of CULTURAL AFFAIRS ASSISTANT in the Public Affairs Section. The Cultural Affairs Assistant (CAA) supports a broad range of functions in the Public Affairs Section (PAS) under the direct supervision of the Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer and in close collaboration with the Social and Electronic Media Outreach Coordinator (PD-SEMOC), Cultural Section Locally Employed Staff (LES) colleagues responsible for speaker programs and exchanges, and Information Section LES colleagues engaged with social media and electronic outreach. These functions include: website and social media management, principally in relation to Cultural Section activities; outreach to United States Government (USG) exchange program grantees and new social media contacts; and planning and support of special projects.


Requisitos

  1. Education: Undergraduate university degree in Communication, Journalism, Political Science, International Relations, Computer science or Information Sciences.
  2. Prior Work Experience: A minimum of one year in fields bearing on PAS activities. Minimum one year experience in Web site design and maintenance with Web 2.0 or in the use of social media applications and technologies. This will be tested.
  3. Language Proficiency: English and Spanish Level 4 (fluent) speaking/reading. Must be able to write concise reports and summaries in both languages. This will be tested.
  4. Other Knowledges and Skills: Good understanding of contemporary U.S. affairs as well as U.S. governmental and political processes. Good knowledge of local and national politics, the media environment, and the academic world.
